Most people know asbestos is dangerous, but not many understand what actually happens during a professional removal job.
Here’s what you can expect when you hire a licensed contractor like us.
1. Site Assessment
We either work off a hazmat report provided by a hygienist or arrange for testing if none exists. If needed, we can also take samples ourselves and submit them to a NATA-accredited hygienist for formal lab analysis. It’s important to know exactly what type of asbestos we’re dealing with before we touch anything.
2. Setup and Containment
Once confirmed, we set up containment. That could be a bubble, a wrap-and-cut, or a full enclosure with negative air pressure, depending on the job. Where required, we can also seal doors and isolate specific areas. This step is critical to stop fibres escaping into the surrounding area.
3. Removal
Only trained asbestos workers enter the zone. We remove the material using controlled methods, keeping it intact wherever possible. Everything is double-bagged, sealed, and clearly labelled for EPA disposal.
4. Decontamination
We use HEPA vacuums, decontamination units, and wet wipe everything down. No shortcuts.
5. Clearance
For most jobs an independent hygienist inspects and issues clearance before the area is re-occupied.
At Precision Environmental, we follow this process to the letter. Whether it’s a small home bathroom or a large-scale commercial roof, we do it right, legally, and safely.
