Precision Environmental was engaged by BMC Demolition and SJ Higgins to deliver asbestos removal works at Pinewood Primary School in Mount Waverley as part of the VSBA East Bundle 1 program. This large-scale package of works required detailed asbestos remediation across multiple buildings, ensuring the school was made safe for demolition and refurbishment activities.
Our scope included the safe removal and disposal of asbestos-containing vinyl floor tiles from classrooms, change areas, laundries, bathrooms, staff rooms, storage rooms, and reception spaces. We also undertook extensive asbestos removal under Building B subfloor, which involved floor access, full surface cleaning of asbestos-contaminated debris, and careful work in restricted crawl spaces. All cleaning was carried out with HEPA vacuums and wet-wiping to ensure no fibre release.
In addition, asbestos cement sheet was removed from the lift room and roof sections above the Level 1 toilets and the main Level 2 roof areas
All waste was double-bagged, sealed, and transported to an EPA-licensed facility. The project was managed under our Class A and B licences, following the Occupational Health and Safety Regulations 2017, WorkSafe Victoria’s Compliance Code for asbestos removal, and EPA Victoria requirements. Independent hygienists provided clearance inspections at the end of each stage.
This project highlights Precision Environmental’s capability in delivering school asbestos remediation under tight timeframes, coordinating with demolition and building partners, and ensuring safety and compliance for government education projects.
